Instructor - Founder
ob James started Home James School of Motoring in 2007, after spending time with a large national school.
His reputation is based on outstanding customer service, and treating every single pupil as an individual.
Driving is a very personal thing, and so teaching styles must be adapted in order to achieve fantastic results for each and every one.
He loves helping pupils gain a huge life skill. For Rob to teach someone how to drive is a real privilege.
When Rob is not working he loves spending time with his daughters, Effie and Poppy, He loves going on family days out, enjoying everything the New Forest and environs has to offer.
Andy Olden has taught nearly 1000 pupils since qualifying as a driving instructor. He has an eye for detail, and knows precisely what is required to get the results you want, regularly achieving over 80% at the 1st attempt.
Andy’s other interests include his classic car, travel and spending time doing dad stuff with his daughter, Ella.
Andy’s teaching style is chilled and relaxed, and making learning as fun as possible, with a huge emphasis on safe driving for life.
Andy is an extremely well liked instructor.
Pupils feel comfortable and relaxed on his lessons, and we receive great feedback from pupils and parents alike.
Andy has achieved a very impressive pass rate.
Before coming into the industry, Andy was a PE teacher, but after all that running around, he decided a career of sitting down and reclining was much more him, as well as instructing.
Andy also spends a day a week at Southampton football club, helping with coaching the squad.
In his spare time Andy loves nothing more than travelling with his wife Kath and their two daughters, having recently spent time in New Zealand, Australia and Iceland.
Harry’s earliest memory is of him sat behind the wheel of his fathers single seater race car and after that he couldn’t turn 17 quick enough.
Now very experienced and fluent in various disciplines of driving, he’s decided to dedicate his skill and impart that wisdom with the objective of producing safe driving talent.
Based in Christchurch, Harry can be found exercising his art on the New Forest roads, shaking walls as a bass player, or simply filling the air with rich aromas of his adventurous cooking. Whatever he may be doing, it’s done with finesse!
Charlie is quite a character. Hhis lessons are fun and energetic and he is held in extremely high regard by all his pupils.
Charlie has had many different careers throughout his working life, from owning restaurants in Spain to selling pharmaceuticals for a large national company in London.
No two lessons are ever the same, and you're sure not to get bored.
When Charlie isn't teaching, he spends his time with his partner Lydia, and their beautiful two year old daughter Penelope.
Rob has been successfully getting pupils through their driving tests for many years. A fabulous guy, with a dry sense of humour, pupils often comment on his laid back approach to instructing, which has helped them grow in confidence as drivers.
Before coming into instruction, Rob had been in the army, he has had a successful career as a land surveyor, and has also owned and run his own commercial cleaning firm.
In his chill time, Rob and his wife Jackie enjoy walking and lots of travel.
Paul is a popular, self confessed perfectionist. His eye for detail has achieved unbelievable results for pupils who had previously lost hope. A very calm character with a wicked sense of humour.
Paul combines his week as an instructor, with also being a firefighter, husband and father of three young children. We often wonder how he manages it all, but he does and he does it brilliantly.
Michelle has been driving for many years, and has a wealth of previous experience.
Michelle lived in London before moving to the New Forest with her three children. Michelle has a fun and caring personality and pupils often comment on her incredible patience.
Before coming into the driver trainer industry, Michelle worked for a large care organisation.
In her spare time Michelle and her partner Geoff love to travel and have recently visited New York and the Carribean, and has just returned from a once in a lifetime trip to Alaska, Chicago and Seattle.
Achievements to date include climbing Mount Snowdon and she is about to embark on her latest and probably most enjoyable expedition, 'becoming a grandmother for the first time in November.
Steve has been instructing for many years, and has a wealth of experience and qualifications galore!
Steve’s speciality is advanced driving /fleet driver training and is our designated instructor trainer. This allows potential instructors to do all their training with Home James from beginning to end.
His qualifications are incredibly impressive: he is Adi/Fleet registered, Ordit grade A, in the training of potential driving instructors, Cardington grade A, Diamond Advanced Instructor, Btech Advanced Instructor, Btech Assessor and is also Banstead qualified to train and teach pupils with limited physical movement.
Steve has a great eye for detail, and has achieved amazing results for our pupils and instructors alike!
Steve is married to his lovely wife Alison and when he isn’t teaching, loves to read, go for meals out and trips to the cinema with Alison.
Before qualifying as a Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) Bruce was a transport manager for an international removal company.
Bruce has coached children’s football for 10 years, including setting up a successful Girls Team.
Having worked with experienced drivers and young people it made sense to combine the two and become a driving instructor and develop the safe drivers of tomorrow.
Lessons are always conducted in a calm, friendly and relaxed manner as he firmly believes in making pupils feel at ease whilst there are learning.
Having moved to the New Milton area 4 years ago with his family he can often be seen walking his dogs, Jasper and Nev, along the glorious coastline here.
Bruce is a keen skier and he is currently planning a road trip in his VW camper van with his wife Jenny.
Scott holds a variety driving licenses and has gained a wealth of experience over the years in vehicles of all shapes and sizes often driving them in challenging conditions all over the world.
Scott served as a soldier for over nine years in the 1st Battalion The Rifles. After leaving the army he found himself mid recession driving a HGV around Cornwall but was soon promoted to the role of Transport Manager covering the South West Region.
Scott lives on a small farm with his two children Harry(7) & Francis (3) on the outskirts of Exeter.
Scott enjoys playing golf in his spare time which his oldest son Harry also enjoys
Andy has seen the world as an Air Steward at British Airways, He has been a Newsagent and 5* Hotel Manager.
He currently owns a small cafe/deli in Devon and runs Home James School of Motoring (Exeter).
In his spare time, Andy enjoys football (he is a Tottenham Hotspur season ticket holder), swimming and having fun with his three children, Ruby, Freddy and Nelly... usually at the beach!
Michelle initially trained with the AA.
Previously, an aerobic & fitness instructor, fitness manager in Southampton, and a year instructing out in Spain, Michelle and her husband moved to Milford-on-Sea to start a family (a son and daughter both now teenagers)!
She has also worked part time in leisure services for many years.
In her spare time she loves nothing more than being with family and friends.
Hettie is currently the youngest fully qualified female driving instructor in the country, an outstanding achievement!!
Hettie has a wealth of experience in customer focused roles.
She has run a local new forest eatery, and in the last few years has been a Nanny to a young family of four children and has also been in charge of the day to day running of a large Manor House.
Hettie is our full time automatic instructor.
In Hettie’s free time, she loves to bake, kayak and travel and has recently just returned from a trip to Australia.
Lucy provides lessons in and around Salisbury.
After many years in recruitment, Lucy decided to have a career change and decided to become a driving instructor. She has carried out all her training with Home James.
She loves meeting new pupils and helping them gain their freedom.
Lucy has many years of driving experience, and her pupils often comment on her calm nature.
When Lucy isn’t instructing she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also has a keen interest in travel and an ever growing bucket list of places she would like to visit when she retires!
Most recently, Lucy enjoyed travelling around France with her partner Greg and daughter Phoebe.
Susannah has been driving for many years!!
She took a career break and moved to the New Forest in order to to raise two children with her husband Sam, some years ago.
Prior to this, she was a director of sales, working in the ceramics industry for some years, with international responsibilities for global revenue growth... Some of her key accounts included Ralph Lauren, Fortnum & Mason, Harrods, Selfridges, to name but a few!
Susannah is an extremely calm and patient character. She loves driving, meeting new pupils and helping them achieve their goals.
In her spare time, Susannah loves being with her daughters Lottie and Emmy, and tending to her horses and various other pets she has acquired over the years, a true animal lover.
Tracy is passionate about helping pupils gain a fantastic life skill, pupils often comment on her calm, positive coaching techniques.
Before becoming an instructor Tracy has had experience in roles of Customer Services, Sales, Coaching and most recently has gained 6 years experience as a Trainer working for the NHS.
Tracy is married and has two children and when she’s not working she loves horse riding, swimming and spending time socialising with family and friends.
Karen has a great personality with an extremely caring and nurturing nature. She has an eclectic mix of skills and talent.
Karen has been driving for many years, and as well as holding a category B licence, she also holds a full, clean HGV licence. For a time, Karen was a haulage driver for a local company in Southampton.
Most recently, she held a Customer Service role, within South Western Railways.
Karen has three grown up children, and last year became a grandmother for the first time.
She is a country girl at heart, and in her spare time loves nothing more than tending to her horses and hacks in the New Forest.
